IPL 2023 is getting more interesting as teams have started to settle. CSK and RR also played a thrilling last-ball encounter at MA Chidambaram Stadium yesterday. This was Dhoni’s 200th match as captain in the Indian Premier League. The match ended in a disappointing result for the Yellow Army and Rajasthan Royals won the match by 3 runs. Buttler and Padikkal counter the inexperienced bowling lineup

Jaddu and Co. turning the game in favour of CSK
Ravindra Jadeja came to the attack and dismissed Padikkal and Samson in the same over. Jaddu finished his quota of four overs by taking 2 wickets and only giving away 21 runs.
Ashwin and Hetmyer’s crucial cameos
Ravi Ashwin joined Buttler in the middle after Samson’s dismissal. He scored 30 runs in 22 balls and provided a bit of stability in the middle. Ashwin and Buttler were dismissed within a gap of 10 balls. Hetmyer then took the charge and scored 30 runs in 18 balls. Akash Singh and Tushar Deshpande chipped in with 2 wickets each to restrict RR to 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Gaikwad fails, but Conway shines
In-form batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad gave away his wicket cheaply for 8 runs. Ajinkya Rahane joined Conway in the middle. Both players contributed with some good cameos and built a partnership of 68 runs. Rahane scored 31 runs before giving his wicket. Conway was dismissed for 50 runs.
Spinners take the charge and middle-order collapses
Adam Zampa was used as an impact sub by the Royals. He partnered with Ravi Ashwin and Yuzi Chahal in the middle. The Indian pair took two wickets each, while Zampa took one wicket. Dube, Moeen, and Rayudu were dismissed for 8, 7, and 1 run respectively.
Dhoni and Jaddu power hitting towards the end
MS Dhoni joined Jadeja in the middle. Chennai required 63 runs in the last 5 overs. Dhoni scored 32 runs in 17 balls, while Jaddu scored 25 out of 15 balls. Despite hitting 50 runs in the last three overs, CSK failed to chase the target and lost the match by 3 runs. Sandeep Sharma kept his cool in the end and defended 20 runs in the final over.
CSK and RR played a last-ball thriller that ended in the favour of Samson’s side. This win takes them to the top of the table in IPL 2023. CSK remain 5th with 2 wins and 2 losses.
