FAF & Maxwell lead RCB to back-to-back wins | Kohli & Buttler unable to make their mark

Royal Challengers Bangalore earned their 4th win of IPL 2023 after beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 runs. RCB played in their green jersey to promote their green initiative. The match was a thrilling encounter that saw two of the best batsman getting out without making their mark. Here are some of the highlights of the events that took place.

Kohli’s continuous struggles against left-arm seamers

RCB were sent to bat by Jos Buttler. Virat Kohli opened the innings alongside Faf du Plessis. The 34-year-old faced Trent Boult and was out on the first ball of the match. Boult trapped him right in front and Kohli was out LBW. Shahbaz Ahmed joined Faf in the middle. The Bengal player was also dismissed cheaply by Boult in his second over.

Faf and Maxi’s show

RCB were 12-2 in 2.1 over and Maxwell joined Faf in the middle. Both players showed their international experience and were charging on the bowlers. These two scored 127 runs in just 67 balls for the 3rd wicket partnership. Faf went on to make 62 from 39 balls. Maxwell scored 77 runs from 44 balls.

RR’s impressive death bowling

RCB were 156-4 in 15 overs. Both Maxwell and Faf were sent to the pavilion. RR bowlers took full advantage of the new batsman on the crease and only gave away 43 runs in the last 5 overs. Yuzi Chahal and Sandeep Sharma took wickets towards the end. Bangalore scored 189 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the first innings.

Buttler fails but two youngsters take charge on RCB bowlers

Jos Buttler also had a bad day and was dismissed by Siraj on a duck. Devdutt Padikkal joined Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle. Both lefties batted nicely and scored 98 runs in 11 overs for the 2nd wicket. Jaiswal scored 47 runs and Padikkal scored 52 runs.

Jurel’s fighting spirit

After Padikkal’s dismissal, RR were 99-2 in 11.4 overs. The last year’s runners-up failed to create another partnership and that led to a lot of trouble. Dhruv Jurel joined Hetmyer in the middle when RR were 125-4 in 15.2 overs. The youngster scored 34 from just 16 balls and his innings included 2 fours and sixes each. He showed a fighting spirit but failed to take his side over the line.

Harshal’s impact

Harshal Patel was used as an impact sub in the match. He dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and broke the momentum of the opposition. He then dismissed Sanju Samson in his very next over. Patel was given the charge of bowling the final over. He had to defend 19 runs. Harshal was able to do so and finished with the figures of 3-32 in his 4 overs.

RCB vs RR was a thrilling encounter. This match went down the wire but RCB bowlers kept their nerve and stopped the opposition from winning the match.
